Two part class via ZOOM on
Saturday, September 14th, 1:30 PM - 4:00PM and Sunday, September 15th from 1:30PM - 3:30PM
Sandy Fitzpatrick of Hissyfitz Designs, will also be conducting a 4 ½ hour workshop via ZOOM entitled “Make the Most of Your Machine Applique!” Using fusible and non-fusible techniques, she will take away the mystery and dread as you learn how easy the process really is. You will improve your machine applique techniques and learn how to do so much more with satin-stitching, blanket-stitching and the decorative stitches on your machine. You will see her creativity shines through in her quirky and whimsical designs when you look at the patterns on her web site.
For this class, students will need to purchase a pattern for their project. The patterns range from $8-$14. You may choose whatever pattern you like except for the Giraffe and Llama as these are a bit more involved and could not be finished in this class. The class will be delivered in two sessions: 2 ½ hours on Saturday, September 14th, 1:30-4:00 and Sunday September 15th from 1:30-3:30.
The class fee is: $38. Please register online. Registration will be closed on September 7th, 2024. A place will be reserved for only those students who have paid.
The class size is limited to 20.
An abbreviated supply list is below. Download the complete supply list here.
Supply List
○ Open toed applique foot
○ Bobbins
○ Thread in colors to match your fabrics
○ Applique Press Sheet (This is a MUST. It will make your applique process so much easier. There is a difference in an applique press sheet and a pressing sheet. If you are unsure, please email me for clarification.)
○ Pen or pencil
○ Scissors for paper and fabric
○ Heat ‘n Bond LITE fusible web - 2 yards
You may be tempted to use another type of fusible web that you already have on hand. Please use Heat ’n Bond LITE for this workshop. I will explain the differences in fusibles during the class. If you prefer to use something else after the workshop that is fine. But please, humor me, I don’t ask for much!
○ Extension tray for your machine (if you have one)
○ White computer paper for stabilizer (approximately 5-6 sheets)
○ Two fabrics, one light, one dark, 10" x 7" color doesn’t matter. To practice stitches.
○ A pattern of your choice from Hissyfitz Designs. (Hard copy or PDF)
You have the option to use any pattern purchased from my website. If you plan to make a full quilt or wall hanging, please refer to fabric yardage on the pattern you choose. If you are only going to do one block of the pattern, you can get by with a smaller amount of yardage. Optional kits are available for some patterns, but are not mandatory.
