Ocean Waves Quilters of Miami was founded in January 1985.
Our goals are to promote interest in all aspects of quilt making, to allow members to develop skills, and to display their creations. We hold monthly meetings, publish a newsletter, a website and organize workshops. We offer a variety of classes and workshops that cover a wide range of quilting techniques. Ocean Waves has over 100 members with a monthly attendance around 60 members. Anyone interested in quilts or quilt making is invited to become a member, regardless of skill level or area of interest. Each year Ocean Waves members gather together for camaraderie and community service, making quilts for community homes and for families, as well as individuals, in crisis. Last year guild members provided quilts to the victims of Hurricane Sandy. Additionally, guild members designed and completed quilts for our yearly chapter opportunity quilt, and have produced reproduction quilts for historical projects. |
