A Message From The President

Welcome to Ocean Waves!

Quilt Guild Chapter 296 of the National Quilting Association (NQA), was founded in January 1985,
and chartered NQA on May 1, 1985. Our goals are to promote interest in all aspects of quilt
making, to allow members to develop skills and to display their creations.

We hold monthly meetings, publish a newsletter, sponsor a bi-annual quilt show, organize quilt
trips, and provide programs and workshops for our members. Ocean Waves has over 130
members. Anyone interested in quilts, quilt making, or related fiber arts is invited to join,
regardless of skill level or area of interest.

Guild Meetings
The Ocean Waves Quilt Guild meets the second Saturday of each month at Miami West Active Day
Care, 13768 SW 8th Street. The doors open at 9:00 a.m.; to members, potential members, and
guests to browse the information at the membership table, check out a book, or two or three
from our extensive Library, purchase Ocean Waves t-shirts, pins, or other promotional items, or
just to get a good seat. The General Membership meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. Board Meetings are
held on Wednesdays the week of the guild meeting, the meeting is currently being held at
Awesome Embroidery at 6:00 pm.

The business portion of the general membership meeting may have a scheduled program feature.
The speaker/lecturer may present a trunk show, entertainment, or give a demonstration as a
preamble to an afternoon workshop. Concluding the meeting is a favorite part of the morning
activity with "Show and Help and UFO Challenge." See what Guild members have been working on,
and show off your projects in a fun, supportive atmosphere. After the meeting we break for
refreshments to allow members and visitors time to mingle before the afternoon workshop(s)
begin.
