V.A. HOSPITAL QUILTS
by Ellen Sherman
My source from the representative of the Ambassadors at the VA hospital said that wheelchair patients are in need of quilts. The sizes that are most useful are 36"x 36" or 38" x 40". It would be helpful if the bottom edge is rounded slightly so as not to catch in the wheels. It is also helpful if the front has a sleeve-like pocket open on both ends so hands can be placed inside for warmth. In addition, a pocket sewn on the sleeve would be nice for keeping personal items.
[Ellen sent along a web site that sells quilts like the ones she described. The photos are very helpful… http://www.homesewnbycarolyn.com/lovie-lap-quilts.html ]
